Bio:

Joan Lenker, Artist of “Elegance in Art”, is a native of the Susquehanna Valley in Pennsylvania.

She left the corporate business world in 2004 and is pursuing two distinct paths.

She primarily focuses on her unique art form but she also uses her hands as a Reflexologist and Reiki Master.

The rose is the focal point of her creations and is a symbol for love which serves as her message.

Through her art she wishes not only for you to love the beauty of her work, but also communicate that we need to simply love God, ourselves, others and the natural world.

Her art medium focuses on an oriental technique of porcelain sculpting and painting, which is authenticated with an Oriental love symbol on each piece.  It’s her way of expressing each of us can contribute in their own way the message of love.

She works with plants from her floral gardens to press and mold their texture and essence into these one-of-a-kind dimensional art forms in porcelain clay.

Upon request,

she transforms special event floral designs, such as wedding bouquets, into cherished porcelain heirlooms.

She uses the highest quality clay and incorporates natural fabrics and glass for special effects.  The piece is either left in its natural color, or she continues her creativity by applying several layers of color, luster, enamel, pen work or gold to add other facets to her unique artistry.  Each piece is fired several times in a kiln.  Her latest direction is painting on glass, i.e., wine glasses with a wide range of subjects.  She also uses chicken feathers to create her “Chicks Gone Wild Collections.”

Joan has been building on her distinctive style through various local and internationally known instructors and education forums for over twenty-five years.

Her work has been exhibited and marketed at galleries, retail stores, libraries, restaurants, WITF-TV and the Pennsylvania State Capitol.  She is a member of the Porcelain Painters International Association.

You can find samples of her work on facebook.
