Bio:

As a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, Amy feels she has taken her art of making handcrafted jewelry to the next level, always striving to come up with new ideas to try.

She currently uses a variety of real gemstones, accenting the pieces with various metals and specially selected glass beads.

She also likes to use pearls, crystals, glass and wooden pendants and whatever else might be of interest while looking for the unique and unusual.

Preferably she finds her materials at bead and gem shows but also has a few favorite on-line and local shops she frequents.

Currently she resides the Harrisburg area with her husband, twin daughters, 3 English Springer Spaniels and 2 cats.

Initially her interest began while on a family vacation on Ocracoke Island at the bottom of the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

One of her daughters found a seashell and made it into a necklace at a local bead shop where you create your own pieces using their supplies.

They were both hooked.

While her daughter has moved on to  a career in Nursing, Amy has found jewelry making to be more than just a hobby and in 2006 started her business "Island Treasures".

Today her work can be found in Art Galleries and specialty shops both locally and on the Outer Banks.

_____________________________________________

In addition to jewelry making, she is a retail merchandiser for large retail chains in Central Pennsylvania serving many different lines, among them famous maker jewelry.

Many of these lines are consistent leaders in the industry so her exposure to fashion jewelry has been top of the line.
